2018 is the Year of the Dog

Celebrate Chinese New Year in February with Education Group.

Dog is the eleventh in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac signs. Dogs are man's friends who can understand the human's spirit. The Chinese regard dogs as lucky animals.

Education Group offers two interactive workshops, Dragon Dance and Plate Painting. Our Dragon Dance uses authentic dragon and lion heads, and we provide all plates and equipment for each child to take home their own work of art.

Last year over 60,000 children took part in a Chinese New Year workshop across the UK and Australia.

Teachers and children alike love taking part in the spectacle. For example, teachers at Earlsfield Primary School, London, said, “The children loved it! They were excited to see all the different Chinese props, listen to the music and hear all about the Chinese New Year story.

“The other staff members enjoyed experiencing a dance workshop run by a professional and learnt simple movements they could then teach again.”

Chinese New Year celebrations begin on the 16th February 2018 and last for 15 days. Traditionally, it was a time for the Chinese to pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. Highlights include the Lantern Festival on the 15th night, spending time with family, eating lots of food and being extra kind to dogs (the second day is believed to be the birthday of all dogs).

Dates are filling fast so drop us an email to reserve your colourful workshop now! If you’ve missed it this year, get ahead of the crowd by booking for 2019.
