Black History Month Workshop

Black History Month is a celebration of black history, heritage and culture. Black History Month takes place each year throughout October and is celebrated by many schools across the UK.

Education Group offers several workshops to celebrate Black History Month including:

African mask making

Each child has their own wooden mask sculpted in the Dan style originating from the Ivory Coast, West Africa. Children decorate their masks in traditional styles often incorporating Adinkra symbols. Schools have the option of linking this with an African dance workshop, using masks and learning about the symbolism of masks in African culture.

African drumming workshops

Our African drumming workshops focus on including every child. We provide authentic djembes for the children to work in a drum circle creating polyrhythms whist having fun.

African dance workshops

African dance varies greatly across this huge continent. We focus on several different regions explaining the symbolism of each dance with choreography to suit all age groups.

African storytelling

Captivating stories about the history and events of African people and their descendants.
