WWI - A Soldier's Tale

An authentic insight into life in the trenches

This actor-led school war workshop brings history to life. Our soldier Bert will discuss a range of topics with the children including how he was recruited and his training for the Great War.

Our replica equipment is demonstrated and the children get involved in various drills giving them an insight into life as a soldier. Bert recounts his daily routine and describes trench life including digging latrines, the Post Office, dealing with trench foot and the rats!

Each class ends the session with an old fashioned sing-song and hearing a few letters from home.
